Welcome to QWKSVT.com
Welcome to my little place on the 'net - I'm Mike. As you may have guessed, I have a passion for driving and more specifically, driving American-made automobiles. Partially because, at 6'6", I fit better in them, but mostly because there is nothing more exhilarating than the rush caused by a V8 engine roaring to life, spinning the rear wheels as they hunt for traction. You can read all about my vehicles (past and present) on their respective pages within the site. When I'm not out driving or busy with work, I enjoy working with computers, playing video games, photography, basketball, golf, watching movies, and listening to music.
This site is primarily focused on my garage, which includes the following vehicles:
1) 2001 F150 Lightning
2) 2011 F150 FX4 Supercrew Ecoboost
3) 1980 Camaro Z28 (long-term project)
4) 2011 Explorer XLT 4x4 (wife's car)
You can probably tell that my biggest weakness is my "toys" and the ongoing need to have more toys, based on the list above ;) As time goes on, I will update the page to include additional information about my other hobbies and interests.
The SVT Lightning is the first BRAND NEW vehicle I ever bought... One test drive, and I knew I had to have one - it conjures up such raw and visceral emotions - It's a blast to drive... Figuratively and literally! The Lightning is my summer toy... It only sees light on the nicest of days. The truck is a beast, and provides more smiles per gallon than any other vehicle out there! ;)
On May 26, 2004, I replaced my 1995 Cougar XR7 with a 2003 Mercury Marauder. The big black car moved nicely, and provided all the comforts one would expect from a mid-range luxury car. It took the role of my daily driver, until I replaced it with a 2011 F150 FX4 Supercrew... More space than the Marauder (interior and storage), 4x4, towing and I'm actually saving money on gas and insurance.
The Z28, on the other hand, is a long way away from being completed. It currently resides in one half of my Grand Parents' garage. I really wished it would have been finished, or at least out on the road, by now... But, as with any other hobby, my two biggest holdups are time and money. If anyone would like to give me some of their time, or - even better - their money, I'd gladly accept. Short of that happening, it's still going to be a long road before I'm done.
On January 16, 2008, we took possession of a 2001 Ford Escape XLT (4x4 V6). This was the wife's car... On June 8, 2011, the Escape went the way of the dodo bird, making way for a 2011 Ford Explorer XLT (also a V6 4x4). Bigger, and better than the Escape in every conceivable way, this is a fantastic addition to the garage.
